Blockchain Centre: Opening the Gateway for Communities Across Kenya and Africa

Por Preston Odep

Getting to work on the Blockchain Centre NBO brand, I knew it had to become more than a logo or a visual identity. It needed to be a bridge, a place where communities, innovators, and curious learners could step into the world of blockchain without fear, confusion, or technical barriers.

Africa is moving fast. Kenya especially has become a hub of innovation and experimentation, with young builders and creators pushing boundaries every day. Yet, the challenge has always been the same: Where do people begin?

How do we create an environment where decentralization, governance, digital identity, and blockchain literacy feel accessible and relatable? That’s the question the Blockchain Centre set out to answer, and the brand had to capture that mission fully.

Designing a Brand That Opens Doors

The approach to the Blockchain Centre brand was simple but intentional: Make it a gateway. A place where anyone, regardless of background, can enter and grow. To achieve that, the brand needed to reflect:

  • Openness: welcoming communities, not intimidating them
  • Trust: grounding a technology often seen as complex
  • Education: supporting learning, exploration, and mentorship
  • Continental relevance: aligning with Africa’s rising footprint in web3
  • Innovation: showing forward movement, experimentation, and progress

This meant shaping not just visuals, but a narrative, a story that positions Blockchain Centre NBO as the starting point for countless journeys.

A Home for Communities

The Blockchain Centre NBO is more than an initiative. It’s a community gateway.

It creates space for:

  • Builders exploring decentralized systems
  • Creatives seeking new possibilities in digital ownership
  • Students engaging with blockchain for the first time
  • Developers contributing to open-source ecosystems
  • Entrepreneurs testing blockchain-driven solutions
  • African communities looking for representation in the global web3 movement

By grounding the brand in human-centered design, the Blockchain Centre NBO becomes a familiar doorway into unfamiliar technology, a place where learning, discovery, and collaboration coexist.

Looking Ahead

Shaping the Blockchain Centre brand taught me one thing: Design can open worlds, not just products. And as Africa continues to take its place in the global blockchain ecosystem, the Blockchain Centre NBO stands as a gateway where ideas, communities, and opportunities meet
