From an Empty Room to a Thriving Space

Na Herine Omollo

From a distance, you could hear people talking, some engaged in meetings, others sharing stories and laughter. Colleagues moved around greeting one another, and the entire space felt busy, vibrant, and full of energy. Many neighbors and visitors admired the environment and often expressed their desire to become part of the team because of the atmosphere, beauty, and positive vibe surrounding the space.

Now, let me take you back to where the story began.

It all started with extensive online research, visiting different websites, making countless phone calls, and physically touring several office spaces. Most of the spaces did not meet the specific requirements we needed, except one. The long search finally led us to Hurlingham, at Maralal Oasis, where we settled on Room 401 on the 4th floor.

The room had the exact dimensions we were looking for, but it was empty, quiet, and lifeless. However, behind that empty space was a strong vision of what it would eventually become.

I remember reporting to Blockchain Centre Nairobi on the very first day. The space was completely silent, yet it carried so much potential and vision. In fact, during the first eight hours I spent at the centre, I do not remember seeing anyone walk in.

As days went by, the centre slowly began transforming. Chairs were brought in, tables were arranged, and interior designs were finalized. Gradually, the space started taking shape. Before long, it became attractive and noticeable, with people passing by beginning to recognize and take interest in Blockchain Centre Nairobi.

Soon, more people started visiting the centre to make enquiries, and I was always at the reception desk to warmly welcome and assist them. Over time, Maralal Oasis, 4th Floor, Room 401 became well known beyond the building itself. The centre began hosting different events, and the number of employees steadily increased, from three, to four, to five, and eventually even more.

Growing alongside space became part of my journey. As the centre expanded, I also grew personally and professionally, learning, adapting, and striving to grow with it. Working at the front office was challenging in the beginning, but with time, everything gradually fell into place, and I learned how to navigate my responsibilities effectively.

Opening the space every day became something I genuinely enjoyed. Watching it evolve, welcoming visitors, and seeing more people engage with the centre has been both encouraging and fulfilling. Today, the space is often filled with both visitors and employees. From afar, you can hear conversations, meetings, and shared stories, making the environment lively, energetic, and enjoyable.

Everything has grown remarkably fast, and the journey continues to be both inspiring and rewarding.

In many ways, Blockchain Centre Nairobi has become more than just a workspace, it has become a symbol of growth, vision, collaboration, and possibility. Looking back at how everything started from an empty and silent room to a vibrant and thriving environment is truly inspiring. Being part of this journey has taught me the value of patience, consistency, teamwork, and believing in a vision even before others can see it. As the centre continues to grow, I look forward to growing with it, contributing even more, and witnessing greater achievements in the future.
